What Is The NAID AAA Certification?
Here at Merlin Shredding, one of our proudest certifications is the NAID AAA certification. But what does this mean for our customers and how does it help ensure security?
The National Association of Information Destruction proclaims that they are the standard-setting body that "advocates for best practices in secure data destruction". Despite the word "national" in its title, this organization is not exclusive to Canada, nor the United States. The NAID helps service providers globally, ensuring that companies all over the world are following a standardized practice.
Obtaining the NAID certification is voluntary, and may be renewed annually. The certification process includes an application process, as well as an audit, consultation, and regular program updates.
The NAID AAA Certification affects how we practice our services. For example, the NAID AAA Certification requires a customer to witness a mobile shredding vehicle destruct their papers or electronics. Performing a mobile shredding service without a witness would not be considered an NAID AAA-certified service. The customer must then be notified, affecting the credibility and possibly integrity of the provided service.
Furthermore, the NAID only certifies data destruction companies that have a minimum of three destruction locations. In other words, the NAID recognizes only businesses that have already expanded to a certain degree and have an established presence in the community.
In conclusion…
The NAID AAA certification is only given out to those who have been audited thoroughly, and are willing to be trained to practice ever-changing global standards. Merlin Shredding is proud to have this certificate under our belt.
Along with the NAID AAA certification, Merlin Shredding been recognized plenty of times by various communities and praised for our performance. We believe that our local touch builds our trust with our clients from the ground up, but a few certifications never hurt anyone!
